Ferrosilicon is an iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is an iron-silicon alloy made of coke, steel scraps, quartz (or silica) as raw materials and smelted in an electric furnace.

The main purpose:

1. Ferrosilicon is an indispensable deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation. Brick iron is also used in steelmaking as an alloying agent.

2. It is used as an inoculant and a nodularizing agent in the cast iron industry. In the production of ductile iron, 75 ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (helping to precipitate graphite) and nodularizing agent.

3. It is used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys. Not only the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is very high, but also the carbon content of high silicon ferrosilicon is very low. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or siliceous alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the production of low-carbon ferroalloys in the ferroalloy industry.

4. Ferrosilicon 75 is often used in the high-temperature smelting process of metal magnesium in the Pidgeon process of magnesium smelting. The magnesium in CaO.MgO is replaced, and about 1.2 tons of ferrosilicon are consumed for each ton of metal magnesium produced. Magnesium production plays a big role.

5. Use in other aspects. The ground or atomized ferrosilicon powder can be used as a suspended phase in the mineral processing industry.

6. It can be used as a coating for welding rods in the welding rod manufacturing industry. High-silicon ferrosilicon is used in the chemical industry to manufacture products such as silicone.
